In 2020 the Covid pandemic was shutting down small businesses who couldn't adapt to the demand for online ordering. I helped enable my family's small honey business to survive and thrive with online ordering through this website. The constraints for the project necessitated that a non-technical person should be able to make modifications the website, so I used WordPress to address that need.
Hi, thank you for visiting my site! I’m Ian Dziuk, a software engineer with a passion for creative problem solving, graphic design and improving the interfaces and systems designed for everyday life. My study of digital culture inspired me to pursue a career centered around design and media with an engineering mindset. This has naturally led me into the field of software engineering.
Work In Progress
New projects are currently under development. Check back soon for new developments!
I worked with a team of engineers to migrate a legacy tech stack onto modern and scalable architecture. My primary responsibility was to recreate an AngularJS application using Angular 13. Additionally, I assisted in the testing of back-end services for our in-house ORM built on .Net Core, and wrote SQL queries for our PostgreSQL database. iTether Technologies was responsible for creating technologies that supported justice departments and behavioral health organizations to manage their communities and keep individuals on track.
Small Business Consultant
Between February of 2020 and 2022 I worked for my family's small Arizona honey business. Due to the pandemic, my non tech-savvy family needed to adapt to the demands of online retail throughout the pandemic. I helped them to achieve and sustain online retail business, equipping them with new tools for future success. As a consultant, I was also able to help small businesses across the US and abroad with their technology and marketing needs.
For about 7 years, I worked for HEI Health and the child company Health Signal to create professional quality marketing content and execute business to business marketing campaigns. I led a small marketing team and worked closely with upper management in a fast paced work environment to achieve performance goals and customer acquisition objectives.
Education & Certifications
🎓 ASU [BA]: Digital Culture
I graduated Arizona State University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Digital Culture. Students in Digital Culture study the convergence of the Arts and media, with engineering. As a student I leveraged technologies like laser cutting, 3D printing, and writing programs for Arduino micro-controllers for class projects. Examples of my studies include:
- The fabrication of flexible wooden sculptures designed with Rhino auto-cad and laser cutting machinery, integrated with programmable lighting.
- I fabricated a self-sustaining aquaponic system that leveraged Arduino hardware to monitor the status of various components of the system.
- Coding and designing a native iOS mobile game app using Objective-C, X-Code and custom designed sprites made with Adobe Illustrator.
👨💻 Codecademy [in-progress]: Front-End Engineer
I am currently pursuing a certification from Codecademy for a certification of front-end engineering. Through this course I aim to demonstrate my working knowledge of modern front-end engineering technologies.
